children’s highland heritage roadshow...

Minority cultures unite

As part of the 2007 Highland Year of the Culture, West Highland Animation toured an Exhibition of animated films, games and comics.

Children were invited to a one hour CARTOON PROGRAMME and asked to vote for the Tallest Story in two categories:

Stories from Tribes from the Indian Sub-Continent

-introduced and animated by Gaelic comedian Norman MacLean

Stories from all over the Highlands of Scotland. Drawn, voiced and animated by Gaelic Medium Primary children and introduced by Piney the Pine Marten

The Highland and Island votes, along with others from the Tribal groups in India and British Asian Audiences; winners were awarded their Trophies at the Inverness Film Festival in November 2007

We have also made a wall Exhibition of original artwork from all the films

This Tour and Exhibition was funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Bord na Gaidhlig, Leader+, the Lomond and Trossachs National Park and the Gaelic Media Services. It was supported by CNAG and Highland 2007.

Screenings for the Tribal audiences in India were funded by the Bryan Guinness Charitable Trust and carried out by animator Tara Douglas. The Awards for All Fund is supporting screenings for British Asian audiences with a grant to the Adivasi Arts Trust.
